A cyanotype print exposed and developed in my home studio. Framed in a vintage frame with an acid free mount and glazed with museum quality UV filtering glass.
Each print is exposed from a drawing I created with brush and sumi ink. I use a solution of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide to sensitise paper. The image is exposed to sunlight and parts turn a deep Prussian blue before the image is fixed.
I have created a series of three of these prints. Each print has been exposed from the same image but varies slightly due to its exposure and fixing, and so each print is also a unique work.
Image size: 30cm x 23cm
Frame size: 39cm x 31cm
Paper weight: 350gsm
Signed and dated under the mount. Ready to hang.
Shipping is free within the UK. Please use the contact form to enquire about overseas shipping.
Discovered in 1842, cyanotypes are one of the earliest forms of mass photography. The colours produced depend on exposure times and the mixture of iron solutions which are fixed in clear water.
Cyanotypes are a stable form of print making but are best hung out of direct sunlight. Should the hue fade due to prolonged exposure to sunlight, the colour can be regenerated by storing the print in a dark environment for a short period of time.
